Willie, Peter and I arrived in Ellenville around 2:00 pm on the last day of the week-long fly-in. It had rained 3 days that week and had basically been unflyable all week. It took less than an hour of waiting before the wind strengthened and the thermals starting kicking in which ended up giving us beautiful flights.
The photo below is an attempt at stitching together 5 photos of the Ellenville ridge, including the launches to the right side (notches in the trees), the training hill to the far left and part of the landing zone all across the lower portion of the photo.
I had the best/longest flight I've ever had which included taking a thermal up over 1,700 feet above the 1,050 foot launch. I have been waiting a year and a half for a weekend day like that in Ellenville. What a day! These three photos are of Tony's 1,050 foot launch.
The first two are photos of the 30-40 pilots who all stayed in the air between 1-2 hours. Following that are photos of Garrett's (blue) and Willie's (yellow) Sigma 5's.
The three of us relaxing after the flight and one last photo of the final few heading off for sled runs at the end of the day.
