Thanks to Peter, we were a little smarter and arrived in Ventura before midnight this time. Did we ever figure out who Eric Ericsson was...10:1? We ran into a waiter who had been hang gliding probably since I was born and regularly flew the Owens Valley with oxygen. I wonder how many waiters in New York can say the same.

Early Afternoon Runs
1 up...1 down, 2 up...2 down, 3 up...3 down; what a showing we made on that first run! Hard right!!! Thankfully there's no photo evidence of my "run."
There was entirely too much parawaiting as usual, but I think I still got more flying time here than I had on any previous trip.
Edward getting ready for round two, Peter finishing up on round one and Randy launching from the "Seal Point."

Early Afternoon Runs
Not much doin' except parawaiting and a little mud-runnin'.
Randy breaking out the kite again. As usuall, I drug mine across the country again and didn't even use it."
Randy, Edward, Luke, Peter and Ryan representing Advance. Randy did a nice job of trying to dry out Peter's wing. Peter enjoyed watching the show so much he proceeded to toss the wing back in a puddle later that day. I still don't have a picture of me and my wing together; we're not sure if there really ever was a wing! Maybe next time.
Randy, Luke, Ronnie and Sharon headed south to check out the kite-surfing, but did not find the winds very cooperative. The winds at Bates were steady and strong; by the end of the day I ended up coming down for fear of being blown over the highway. There was probably a large margin for error, but it didn't feel large enough to me. Steve showed up later and ended up changing wings, because his other one had sat in the mud puddle in the parking lot of Upper Bates a little too long. He ended up pulling his B's to drop the last 3 or 4 feet... I learn something new every day.
Peter doing a little cleaning. Between the wing and the car I think someone has a fetish for mud!
Luke and Sharon making sure we're not just eating chips and salsa, with Ronnie in the background making sure the beer gets done.

Early Afternoon Runs
Randy, Luke and Edward beating into the wind.
If you listen hard enough, you can still hear the groans on landing.
Thanks Ronnie and Sharon for your hospitality again. Everyone, sorry if I did not shown my enthusiasm for the trip on the last day; I was a little out of it for some reason. I look forward to the next one.
